Abstract

In the context of the digital transformation of higher education, this study analyzes the role of digital skills as part of academic capital in universities. It is proposed that these competencies should be considered mandatory within university curricula, given their relevance for learning, research and employability. Through a mixed methodological approach that combines surveys and literature review, the relationship between the acquisition of digital skills and academic performance is evidenced, as well as its influence on professional insertion. The results suggest an urgent need for institutional policies that integrate these skills in a transversal way in university education.
