Abstract

Alchemy, also known as Rasayana Shastra, was a combination of philosophy, science, and religion in ancient India. The background of Rasayana Shastra in terms of history, culture, and philosophy is covered in this article. Alchemical processes were employed by Rasayana Shastra to modify substances and promote alchemical transformation, purification, distillation, and transmutation. some of their ancient traditions have been validated by modern research, particularly in the fields of pharmaceutical chemistry and alternative medicine, metals purification. Rasayana has influenced contemporary health practices. This study evaluates the basic concepts, alchemical procedures, early historical days of chemical practices in India, and the suitability of Rasayana Shastra for metal purification and medicine.
