Abstract

Introduction : Nurses' organizational commitment is a crucial factor in achieving the objectives of hospital organizations. The present study aims to describe organizational commitment among nurses at the specialty hospital affiliated with the IBN SINA University Hospital Center in Rabat.

Method: descriptive study. The quantitative survey was conducted among nurses at the specialty hospital. A sample of 160 participants was selected using a random sampling method. Based on a deductive approach, the data collection tools included a questionnaire on sociodemographic characteristics and  a questionnaire by Allen and Meyer. Data analysis was performed using SPSS.13. The one-way ANOVA test was used to determine the relationship between organizational commitment and sociodemographic characteristics.

Results: The majority of nurses (72%) had a low level of organizational commitment. Significant associations were identified between organizational commitment and the age of participants (p=0.03). Between affective commitment, gender (p=0.01) and age (p=0.006). Between continuity commitment, seniority in the position (p=0.02) and age (p=0.01).

Conclusion: Considering the low level of organizational commitment among participants in this study, decision-makers should take the necessary measures to improve the organizational commitment of nursing staff at specialty hospitals.
