Abstract

The Indian tourism industry is known for its dynamic nature and rapid growth, which heavily rely on a committed and stable workforce. However, the industry grapples with challenges, particularly a high employee turnover rate. This study aims to systematically explore the intricate interplay between organizational commitment and employee retention within the Indian tourism sector. A self-structured questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale was distributed to 200 firms from January to June 2023, yielding a sample of 622 employees for analysis using SPSS and PLS-SEM 4.0. The results reveal a strong connection between organizational commitment, employee retention, and the mediating role of employee satisfaction. The findings demonstrate that committed employees tend to be more satisfied and less likely to leave, whereas dissatisfied employees are more prone to seeking new opportunities. The study also confirmed the validity and reliability of the proposed model, providing valuable insights for stakeholders in the tourism industry to address workforce stability challenges.
