Abstract

Transformative technologies are crucial for sustainable urban development. They help tackle the complex challenges of rapid urbanization, climate change, and socio-economic inequalities.  This research examines how technology and innovation can regenerate Lahore, Pakistan, addressing infrastructural and resource issues and encouraging sustainable growth.
As Lahore struggles with urbanization, infrastructure, and resource management, this study is essential for finding new solutions and supporting sustainable development through technology and innovation. The research design for this study is qualitative involving the in-depth interviews with fifteen urban renewal stakeholders including legislators, urban planners, technology vendors, and community members, to identify best practices and limitations at Lahore. Technology-driven urban regeneration's promise and restrictions are examined using interview thematic analysis.

The study finds the necessity of efficient urban planning, smart infrastructure, and sustainable practices to manage Lahore's rapid urbanization. While intelligent traffic management and renewable energy projects enhance infrastructure, persistent challenges in waste management and regulatory barriers remain. Successful urban regeneration demands policy alignment, stakeholder engagement, robust funding, and capacity building. Collaborative efforts, financial incentives, and support for research and entrepreneurship are essential to drive innovative urban development.Top of FormBottom of Form
