Abstract

The leaves of Achyranthesaspera L. (Amaranthaceae) have been used traditionally for the treatment of wound in various parts of Ethiopia.AchyranthesasperaLinn (Amaranthaceae), commonly Known as apamarga, is a commonly available plant in India. This plant has been used in the treatment of cuts by the people living in Tamil Nadu. The various fractions of leaves of Achyranthesaspera L.  have not yet been explored scientifically for in-vivo wound healing and anti-inflammatory activities.The extracts of these plants can further be developed into phytomedicines for the management of septic woundsthe enhanced wound healing may be due to the free radical scavenging action and immune-enhancing property.
