Abstract

Modi scripts have important cultural and historical implications. This is an old writing system that is widespread in India for administrative and commercial purposes. However, automated processing looks quite a hurdle due to italics and variability. This work provides an extensive overview of current methods for recognition and translation of mode scripts. We studied many approaches included in Modi script optical character detection (OCR), including classification algorithms, characteristic extraction techniques, and image preprocessing techniques. This study also examines the current state of research in the developmental domains of rule-based systems, statistical machine translation, neuronal mechanical translation, and the translation of Modi scripts into modern Indian and English. This review aims to provide researchers and practitioners with a comprehensive context of the current situation by combining the development, limitations and difficulties of detection and translation areas. Additionally, possible instructions for further testing are determined to unlock the rich information of the mode script document.
