Abstract

The agricultural industry faces significant challenges, including resource inefficiency, environmental degradation, and the need to adapt to climate change. Traditional farming methods often lead to suboptimal resource utilization, excess water consumption, and environmental harm. The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) offers transformative potential in addressing these challenges. This paper proposes an IoT-based smart farming system designed to promote sustainable agriculture practices and contribute to environmental protection. The system utilizes an array of sensors for monitoring soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors, providing real-time data that enables precision farming techniques. Through automated control systems, such as smart irrigation and pest management, the system optimizes resource usage, reduces waste, and enhances crop yields. Additionally, the system contributes to environmental conservation by reducing pesticide usage and minimizing the carbon footprint of agricultural operations. The proposed IoT framework is evaluated through experimental results demonstrating its effectiveness in improving agricultural productivity and reducing the environmental impact. The paper also discusses the future implications of IoT in agriculture, including advancements in AI-driven decision-making and the need for further research in rural infrastructure.
