The Role Of Muslim Youth In Facing Contemporary Challenges In Light Of Qur’an And Sunnah

Abstract

This study addresses the role of Muslim youth in confronting contemporary challenges through the lens of the Holy Qur’an and the purified Sunnah. Youth are considered the most vital and dynamic segment within society—its backbone, its foundation for advancement, and the primary force for reform and development. Accordingly, this research aims to shed light on the role of Muslim youth in facing the challenges of the modern era—be they digital, intellectual, cultural, or material—in light of the Qur’anic texts and Prophetic traditions. It also seeks to analyze the current reality of youth in a positive and constructive manner that aids in understanding the problem and determining effective solutions.The researcher adopted the analytical inductive methodology, which involves exploring Islamic texts from the Qur’an and the Sunnah that pertain to youth and their role in building society, and analyzing these texts to uncover their legislative implications and the lessons derived from them. This approach contributes to crafting effective solutions that support youth and guide them in addressing contemporary intellectual challenges.The study yielded several important findings, the most significant of which is that the Qur’anic verses present luminous examples of youth who encountered difficult challenges and complex circumstances—such as the Companions of the Cave and the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him)—and were able to confront and overcome those challenges. It further concluded that intellectual challenges are the most severe and dangerous facing today’s youth due to their profound negative impact and unprecedented intensity, surpassing even the perils of military invasion.Therefore, the study recommends the urgent activation of the roles of scholars, preachers, and media outlets in raising youth awareness and enriching their religious knowledge systems.
