Abstract

This research paper evaluates the influence of solar energy access on household income and employment opportunities in the rural regions of Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh. Conducted under the collaborative framework of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and Dr. C.V. Raman University, Khandwa (M.P.), this study explores how decentralized solar energy systems contribute to rural economic resilience and sustainable livelihoods. A mixed-method design, incorporating household surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews, was employed to assess socio-economic transformations among 300 rural households. Results indicate a significant rise in income, employment diversification, and entrepreneurship following solar energy adoption. Despite positive outcomes, challenges remain in maintenance, financing, and awareness. The paper concludes with recommendations for strengthening policy support and local solar entrepreneurship programs to ensure sustainable energy access for all.
