Abstract

Recent progress in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL) are disrupting not only industries, but also the field of education. From tools that observe how people learn and create content, to ones that personalise instruction and can even think like a human, AI is rewriting what pedagogy means in the 21st century. This paper investigates the confluence of AI, deep learning and pedagogy with the aim of understanding how they are redefining new models of teaching, aiding inclusion and personalisation of learning and meeting the new challenges of the global education goals as enunciated in NEP 2020 and SDG-4. It considers ethical, teacher readiness and digital equity issues and suggests ways to smartly integrate AI into school-level education.
