This study was conducted with the goal of comprehensively analyzing the current situation of training engineers in the automotive industry in the context of the transition to electric vehicle technology in Vietnam, and at the same time proposing a framework to innovate the training program in line with the new requirements of the labor market. On the basis of a mixed approach, the study combines qualitative and quantitative analysis to ensure the multidimensionality and reliability of the results. The findings from the study not only contribute to providing empirical evidence of the difficulties and challenges in the field of technical education in Vietnam, but also shed light on the core issues that institutions need to address in the context of globalization and energy transition trends. Thereby, the study emphasizes the importance of innovating the automotive engineer training program, considering this as one of the key factors to improve the competitiveness of technical human resources in an emerging economy like Vietnam.
